Notes From the Pastor
December 2024 and January 2025 Newsletter Article
Christmas is a magical season of the year. In the Church we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Thank you to all those who decorated our sanctuary at First Christian Church here in Rensselaer. From the prophet Isaiah, we have these words: (9:2) The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. And from chapter 9, verses 6 through 7. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
(Holy Bible – New International Version)
I hope you were able to join us for our Christmas Eve service at 7pm on December 24th. If not, it is available on our live stream either Facebook or YouTube. Click one of the link on this page.
2025 is upon us whether we are ready for it or not. Time marches on. As the New Year starts, I ask God’s blessing on all of us here at First Christian Church. May the peace that passes all understanding be yours for this new start. Pray for our Church family, for all those who need God’s healing touch, all our shut-ins who are home bound, those in care centers and assisted living facilities, all those who feel there is no hope. Let us be the listening ears and calm presence to them. Invite someone to Church that we haven’t seen for a while. Continue to pray that God will lead us into the future he has called us into here in Rensselaer and even around the world.
Blessings & Peace, Pastor Jeff Seger
